Safe and affordable residential water access is a critical issue for low-income communities like Junction. High water costs can disproportionately burden households already facing economic challenges. The Junction Coalition has recognized this issue and is actively working to address it through various initiatives. These include advocating for policies that ensure equitable water pricing for residents, especially those with limited financial means. Additionally, the Coalition is asking Toledo to provide financial assistance or subsidies to help low-income families afford their water bills. By focusing on affordable water access, the Junction Coalition is aiming to improve the overall quality of life and well-being of its residents.

  • ONGOING CONCERNS ABOUT WATER TOXINS

Ongoing water toxin concerns, exemplified by contaminants like per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), pose significant risks to communities nationwide, including those in Toledo like Junction.

PFAS, known as "forever chemicals" due to their persistence in the environment, have been linked to various health issues, including various cancers, immune deficiencies, and childhood developmental delays.

These toxins are of particular concern because they accumulate in the environment and in the human body over time. Addressing these concerns requires comprehensive monitoring, testing, and remediation efforts to ensure that water sources remain safe and free from harmful contaminants.
